What happens on Tue 3 Nov

Why does a squirrel have three stripes on its back? They say the marks came from Shri Ram himself. In front of Ram's army lies the roaring sea: no boat, no road, and golden Lanka shining far away. How will lakhs of vanaras cross it? And what can one tiny squirrel do to help? Night 14 of Naani Ki Ramayan.

The full story — what Naani tells, the pictures, the question she asks your child halfway and the conversation to have afterwards — appears on this page on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, the night it opens in the Naani app.

Parents also ask

Is the squirrel story in the Ramayana?

Not in the written texts. The squirrel and her three stripes are a much-loved devotional folk tradition about the Ram Setu, told across India in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and many family retellings, but they are not in Valmiki's Ramayana or the Ramcharitmanas. Naani tells it with "they say" (कहते हैं), and never says it comes from a text. Everything else in the episode follows the Ramcharitmanas.

How did the stones float?

In the Ramcharitmanas, Samudra Dev tells Ram that the vanara brothers Nal and Neel were blessed by a sage as children, and that by their touch even heavy rocks will float, by Ram's glory. Naani recites the chaupai, explains it simply, and shows the stones floating as Nal and Neel touch them.

Is the scene where Ram lifts his bow at the sea frightening?

No. Ram prays for three days, then lifts his bow and the wind goes still, and at once Samudra Dev rises from the water with folded hands. No arrow is fired at the sea. The moment shows patience first and firmness after, and it ends with an apology and a promise of help.
